4 cups cubed white or French bread
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
8 lightly beaten eggs
4 cups of milk
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
Dash of freshly ground pepper
Dash of garlic powder
Dash of onion powder
1 pound of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 small can of drained sliced mushrooms (optional)

Preheat oven to 350º

Spray deep 9" x 13" baking pan with non stick spray. Put bread cubes in baking pan and add most of cheese, bacon and mushrooms. Beat together remaining ingredients in a separate bowl and pour over bread mixture. Mix everything together in pan for even distribution. Add remaining cheese on top. Cover and refrigerate over night. Bake for 1 hour. Tent with foil the last 10 minutes if its getting too brown. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with salsa.

This recipe was given to me by my mother-in-law, Kathy Morton. It was the Morton family tradition to have this dish every Christmas morning.
