Notes: My mother was raised in the country; and of course, on the farm, they grew their own vegetables. Sweet potatoes was one of her favorite vegetable. She said her lunch at school was often a baked sweet potato in the jacket (skin) from home. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Mayfield, Kentucky. The school is no longer in existence. She said her school was very strict and had a very strict dress code, and the students obeyed and did what their teachers required of them.
