2 medium oranges
1 ½ cup sugar
1/3 cup milk + 2 Tbsp
1 egg, beaten
2 cups flour
1 ¾ tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Grease a 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan

Remove rind and membrane from oranges and chop into small slivers. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Drain off water and leave rind in pan. Add ½ tsp of the sugar and ½ cup water. Bring to boiling point stirring until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 10 minutes. Thoroughly drain rind and reserve 1/3 cup syrup.

Mix together 1 cup of the sugar, reserved syrup, milk egg, and cooked rind.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients to orange mixture. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour into loaf pan

Bake for one hour, or until toothpick comes out clean.

Let stand for 24 hours before slicing.
