1 pkg. dates
1 tsp baking soda
¾ cup boiling water
Sprinkle soda on dates and add boiling water. Let cool.

1 egg 1 cup chopped nuts
¾ cup brown sugar 1 ½ cups flour
1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º
Grease and flour loaf pan

Separate eggs and beat yolks well. Add sugar, salt and vanilla.
Mix well and add to date mixture.
Add nuts and flour.
Beat egg whites with baking powder and fold into mixture.
Pour into pan
Bake for 1 hour.
