3/4 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1/4 pound bitter chocolate, grated
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift flour and baking powder and add alternately with milk. Place one third of the batter in a small bowl and add chocolate and spices. Spoon white and chocolate dough alternately in greased tube pan. Bake at 350º until cake tests "done" with a toothpick. White dough can be tinted other colors to make a "rainbow" cake (a special cake for my brother and me on our birthdays.)
