1 C shortening or margarine
1 C brown sugar
1 C granulated sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 ½ C flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
3 C quick cooking oatmeal
½ c chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugars; add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients oatmeal and nuts. Mix well and shape in rolls. Wrap in waxed paper and chill thoroughly or overnight. Slice ¼ inch thick and bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.
