3 T. shortening
3 T. butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1 cup coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together shortening and butter. Add sugars and baking soda. Beat till combined. Beat in egg and vanilla till combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can. Stir in remaining flour, coconut and pecans. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375ºF for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool on pan for 1 minute and transfer to wire rack. Yield: 3 dozen
