2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
2 cups sour cream
4 eggs
2 t. baking soda
2 t. lemon extract
4 t. baking powder
enough flour to make a soft dough (abt. 4 cups for half recipe)

Mix and roll thin. They will rise and spread while baking. Cut out with decorative cookie cutters. Bake at 350º

There was always sour cream available on the Hartman dairy farm. This recipe was passed down for generations. Warning! This recipe makes a LOT of cookies.
