4 oz German sweet baking chocolate
1/4 cup butter
1 can evaporated milk, 14 oz
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
4 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup coconut, shredded
1/2 cup pecans, broken
1 9" unbaked pastry shell

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate and butter together. Let cool. Add milk and set aside.

Combine in mixing bowl the sugar, eggs, flour, salt, and vanilla. Gradually blend in chocolate mixture. Add coconut and pecans.

Pour into unbaked pastry shell. Bake 50 min. at 375º.

Chill 3 hours. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

This is all the flavors of a German Chocolate Cake in a pie. It's one of the must-haves at our holiday gatherings. I found the recipe many years ago and kept tweaking, and now it's pretty much Dirk and Aubrey's responsibility to show up with two of them at Thanksgiving!
