14 oz. bag Kraft caramels, unwrapped
1/3 cup evaporated milk




1 package cake mix (German chocolate, yellow, or white)
1/3 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch cake pan.
Melt together caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk together in a saucepan until smooth. Set aside.
Stir together desired cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and melted butter. Press half of the mixture into the cake pan and bake for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand for a few minutes.
Pour layer of caramel over cooked layer. Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramel and then chopped nuts, if desired. Put remaining half of cake mixture on top by lightly spreading spoonfuls of the cake mixture. Bake 18-20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before cutting.
