2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Old fashioned Confectioner's icing (recipe below)

Cookies:
In a large bowl mix together butter and sugar with electric mixer. add the egg and vanilla, mix well.turn mixer to low and slowly add in dry ingredients to the sugar mixture. mix until stiff dough forms. transfer cookie dough into plastic wrap and tightly secure. refrigerate for at least 1 hour; up to 12 hours.
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Remove dough from plastic wrap and roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with heart shaped cookie cutters (or shape of your choice). place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet.
bake for 8-10 minutes.
transfer to wire rack to cool completely before adding icing.
Icing:
1 1/4 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. whole milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
stir together in a medium bowl. adjust thickness with powdered sugar or milk.
decorate cookies as desired and enjoy!
