8 cups water
1/4 cup yellow split peas (dhall)
4 small pieces beef bones with meat
Garlic to taste
Red hot pepper to taste
1/4 cup green onions
4 small potatoes
1/2 plantain (ripened)
6 ochros
2 tbsp. garlic butter
Dash of grated nutmeg
Dash of cumin
1 to 2 tbsp. grated ginger
1/2 cup of washed saltfish
3 or 4 cloves
Dash black pepper
Salt to taste (not too much, as you already have salted fish)
1/2 cup of all purpose flour (if you need to make dumplings)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil enough water for 10 minutes.
Add beef bones with meat on the bones and cook on medium to high heat for about 40 to 45 minutes.
Add all other ingredients and boil for another 15 minutes on a medium heat.
Add dumplings if needed (as an extra).
Simmer for another 10 minutes. Make sure the meat is falling off the bones.
Cool and serve.
