2 lb granulated sugar
1 pt table cream
1 pt Karo syrup (dark)
1/2 lb butter
2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients into a stovetop saucepan with a heavy bottom.

Cook about an hour, stirring all the time until a sample forms a ball and cracks against a cup.

Take off the burner and add:
one pinch of baking soda
a small pinch of salt
2 tsps of vanilla

beat until creamy.

Pour on a buttered cookie sheet. Cool, cut and wrap in parchment paper or Saran wrap.
