1 c. Shortening
1 c. White sugar
1 1/2 c. Brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 c. Flour
1 t. Baking soda
1 t. Cinnamon
1 1/2 c.quick rolled oats
3/4 c. Finely crushed pecans or walnuts
1 t. Vanilla
Butter
Granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and both sugars and add beaten egg. Sift flour, soda and cinnamon and add to first mixture. Add oats, nuts and vanilla. Chill one hour. Place walnut sized pieces of dough on greased cookie sheet. Butter the bottom of a glass and dip in granulated sugar. Flatten cookies. Bake at 350ºf for ten minutes.

This recipe is from my old friend Linda ( then Troy), written in her handwriting on a Marriott note pad ( maybe from the period when our husbands were snowed in at the Marriott Hotel for five days and we were forced to become creative)!
