1 pound pasta
salt
½ cup olive oil
2 large cloves garlic finely chopped (to taste)
3 pints cherry tomatoes
½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
pinch of sugar
1 cup coarsely chopped fresh basil
freshly grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Directions:
Directions:
Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted boiling water, stirring occasionally until al dente; drain and transfer to a large bowl.Meanwhile, heat oil in a 12” skillet or wide heavy sauce pan over medium-heat. Add garlic, tomatoes, pepper, sugar, and 1 tsp salt. Cook stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes burst and release their juices to form a sauce, 6-8 minutes.
Toss sauce with pasta and basil. Top with Parmesan.

If you prefer a smooth sauce puree the tomato sauce prior to adding to the pasta. Jim and Andre add hot sauce at the table.
