¼ Cup Shortening
2 Cups Sifted Self Rising Flour
¼ tsp. Soda
¾ Cup Buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 475º. Cut shortening into flour until particles are as fine as coarse cornmeal. Add soda to buttermilk and quickly stir into flour mixture. Turn dough out on lightly floured board or pastry cloth. Roll out and cut with floured cutter. Place on baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. If using all-purpose flour, add 2¼ teaspoons baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt Yields 12 biscuits.
