2 1/2 c. Crushed vanilla wafers ( 1/2 lb. or so)
2 T. Cocoa
1 c. Confectioner's sugar
1 c. Finely chopped walnuts or pecans ( or 1/2 nuts and 1/2 cocoanut)
3 T. Corn syrup
1/4 c. Rum or bourbon

Directions:

Mix wafers, nuts, and cocoa together. Blend corn syrup and liquor and stir into crumb mixture. Shape or roll into small balls and coat with confectioner's sugar. Store for up to several weeks in containers with tight fitting lid.

My father Don Mulford and his wife Penny used to make these for the holidays so they could give them away around Montclair, NJ just before Christmas. Their family have carried on the preparation part of the tradition and sometimes even give some way!
