4 pounds cabbage, shredded
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup lard
¼ cup white vinegar
¼ cup sugar
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
1. Place enough water in a large cooking pot that will cover all of the shredded cabbage.
2. Being water to a boil; add the cabbage and salt.
3. Boil for about 20 minutes or until cabbage is tender but not too soft.
4. Drain the cabbage and replace it into the pot.
5. Add remaining ingredients and let simmer, stirring occasionally, until well mixed in.
6. Taste and if too sour, add more sugar; too sweet, add more vinegar.
SERVE HOT

This is another cabbage recipe from my recipe box. It came from an IDEA EXCHANGE in the SB Tribune for sweet sour cabbage served at banquets by a lady, with the initials J.S. She admitted she usually doesn't measure when she makes this dish, but she was able to work out the amounts for this recipe.
