16 pieces old, firm bread (I use bread that has been refrigerated)
1 3/4 cps. milk
1 egg
1/2 cp. firmly packed brown sugar
5 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1/2 cp. raisins
1/2 cp. chopped pecans

Directions:

Spray sides of crockpot with cooking spray. Break up bread into small pieces in crockpot. Beat egg, add milk and pour over bread. Stir and let sit for about 20 min. Melt butter and add sugar and spices. Stir in vanilla and pour over bread. Add raisins and nuts to crockpot and stir mixture. Cover with lid and cook on low for 3 hours. Serve warm with Rum Butter Sauce (see recipe under Sauces). Great winter dessert!
