Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup prunes (pitted)
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
2 eggs
1 cup prune juce in which 1 level teaspoon of baking soda has been added.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, and egg yolks together. Sift dry ingredients together; remove seeds from cooked prunes. Mix together alternatively; fold in egg whites and bake in a 9" layer pan for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Add your favorite frosting.

(I assume you beat the egg whites to firm peaks).

It's good in a loaf cake pan --then you can slice it.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This was in my grandmother's recipes. Auntie Doris made it one time when we visited her. She dusted the top with powdered sugar, rather than frosting it. Loved it!
