2¼ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup shortening
½ cup margarine
¾ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
½ cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups oatmeal
⅔ cup fruit preserves

Directions:

Mix well the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
In large bowl, cream margarine, shortening and sugars.
Beat in eggs, water and vanilla extract. (Mixture will look curdled.)
Stir in flour and oatmeal.
Drop by rounded teaspoons 3 inches apart on cookie sheet.
With back of spoon or finger make dent in center of dough.
Fill each with ½ teaspoon preserves.
Top if desired with level teaspoon of dough.
Bake 400º for 10 - 12 minutes.
