1 lb. lean beef, cut into small cubes
2 medium onions, chopped fine
1 green bell pepper, chopped fine
1 red bell pepper, chopped fine
2 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
6 cloves of garlic
1 large can of whole tomatoes
¼ c. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. tomato paste
3 Tbsp. paprika powder (the Hungarian kind, not regular powder)
1 Tbsp. caraway seeds
2 tsp. dried thyme
2 tsp. dried marjoram
1 tsp. ground black pepper
1 tsp. salt
4 c. water or beef broth
Cooking oil

Directions:
1. Finely dice vegetables. Sauté beef and vegetables till browned. Add tomatoes, tomato paste and remaining ingredients. Stir well.

2. Pour into broth into a large pan. Stir well. Simmer uncovered for 1 hour. Stir occasionally. Taste for seasoning preferences.

Makes approximately 10 cups of soup.

For cooking in crockpot, follow instructions above, using 2 to 3 cups broth. Cook on low for 8 - 10 hours.
