Apple Slices Recipe

1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. flour
1 egg beaten
4 T water
2 T lemon juice
1 large bag of sliced apples (the apples cook down so be generous)
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
cinnamon to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Mix salt, shortening, 2 cups flour, egg, water and lemon juice. Divide dough into two balls. Roll out one ball on floured sheet to line bottom of cookie sheet. Cover with the peeled, sliced apples mixed in the sugar, flour and cinnamon.

Roll out additional dough for the top crust, lay it on top of apples, make a few slits in top for air venting and pinch the edges to seal.

Bake @ 375º for 45 minutes or until top is lightly brown and apples are soft. Drizzle top with powdered sugar frosting when cool.

Sometimes it is easier to spread the crust by making 1 1/2 of the ingredients for crust recipe.
