- 4.5 lbs pork butt, stab it with a small knife all over prior to putting in the slow cooker

- 2 large onions, quartered

- 4 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 Tablespoons prepared mustard (not dry!)

- 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar

- 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce

- 3 bay leaves

- 5 black peppercorns, and a few cranks of the mill as well

- 4-5 dashes of Liquid Smoke

- 2/3 of a 2 liter bottle of regular Dr. Pepper.

- Mix all liquid ingredients to combine
- Place quartered onions on the bottom of the slow cooker and place the pork butt on top
- Add in bay leaves and peppercorns (I wrap them in a small piece of cheesecloth and tie with twine to create a "teabag"
- Cook on low for 8 hours, turning the pork every 2hrs, adding more Dr. Pepper if needed
- Carefully strain crockpot, removing the majority of the liquid - add the onions back in if you wish, or discard with the bay leaves and peppercorns
- Shred the meat with two forks
- Add in your favorite BBQ sauce (I recommend Heinz' Hawaiian Sweet and Smoky)
- Serve on buns, hoecakes, on nachos, etc
