Betty's Rice Krispie Bars Recipe

Rice Krispieİ Bars:
1 c. Karoİ Corn Syrup
1 c. sugar
1 c. peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
5-6 c. Rice Krispiesİ

Chocolate Chip Frosting:
1 c. sugar
6 tbsp. butter or margarine
⅓ c. milk
1½ c. chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Pre-measure Rice Krispiesİ into a bowl; set aside.
Stir corn syrup and sugar together in LARGE saucepan.
Bring to a boil, remove from heat.
Add peanut butter and stir until smooth.
Immediately stir in Rice Krispiesİ until all are coated.
Spread flat into a jellyroll pan or 9"X12" pan. (Betty always used a shallow 11"X17" pan)
Spread chocolate chip frosting on top and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Chocolate Chip Frosting:
Bring sugar, butter, and milk to a boil.
Boil 1 minute.
Remove from heat.
Stir in chocolate chips until smooth.

Not your typical Rice Krispie bar! Tom's mother swears these don't get hard like the version with marshmallows; but they never last long enough for her theory to be proven right or wrong. :) At any gathering, her Rice Krispies disappear before any other dessert on the table.
