1 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1/2 c. Crisco
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
4 egg whites
2 tsp. vanilla or 1/2 tsp. almond


Frosting:
2/3 c. Crisco
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. almond
2-3 T. milk
Food coloring, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350. Grease and lightly flour bottom only of 13x9 pan. In large bowl, blend all ingredients except egg whites and vanilla at low speed until moistened. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Add egg whites and vanilla. Beat 2 more minutes at medium speed. Pour batter into pan. Bake 25-35 minutes or until done. Cool.

For frosting:
In medium bowl, cream shortening. Add sugar, vanilla and enough milk for decorating consistency. Beat until smooth. If needed, thin with a few drops of milk. Makes about 3 c. frosting.
