1 c. butter
1½ c. sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
2½ c. flour
1 tsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vinegar
ICING:
1 c. milk
3 T. flour
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, coloring and vanilla. Beat well. Add flour, cocoa and buttermilk. Combine soda and vinegar. Add to flour mixture. Pour into three 10 inch layer pans. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes. (this can also be baked in a sheet pan.)

For icing, combine milk and flour; cook until thick, cover and let stand until cool. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add cooled sauce; beat until very light. Add vanilla. Frost cake.
