1c. margarine
¾c. brown sugar
¼c. white sugar
1tsp vanilla
1½c. flour
½tsp. salt
1tsp. baking soda
¼c. boiling water
2c. rolled oats
½c. chopped nuts, optional
1 6oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Beat margarine, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour and salt. Mix well. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water and add to flour mixture. Stir in rolled oats, nuts, and chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoon onto parchment lined cookie sheet. Flatten with fork. Bake at 350ºF for 10-12 minutes.

A good change to cookies are to toast rolled oats then grind 1/2c. Reduce flour to 1c. Raisins can also be added instead of chocolate chips.
