General Tiips for healthy eating! I went to Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona several years ago and these are a few of the healthy tips they shared with us.

Fruit Preserves - can take the place of liqueurs. Our chefs use it in preparing lobster sauce.

Applesauce or prunes can take the place of fat in baking a favorite desert. Applesauce is used in making graham cracker crumble or pear crisps, etc.

Tofu can replace ice cream in a milkshake to create a thick, creamy sauce.

Tea bags can be used to give extra flavor to rice. Just drop your favorite kind of tea in the pot as the rice cooks.

Yogurt is a terrific and commonly used substitute for mayonnaise in various dressings.

Sweet potatoes make great low-fat waffles.

Tumeric gives all-egg white omelets the familiar color of your old favorites. (Yolk)

Cereal flakes make a delicious difference in the coating for French toast.

Miso can be used instead of Parmasean in pesto-type sauces. It's often used in veggie pasta.

Phyllo dough makes a great veggie strudel for dinner or you can use it for a healthy fruit dessert strudel.

Couscous is our secret ingredient in corn tamales, instead of masa. It's tastes great and you'll never miss the extra calories.
