2 cups finely chopped walnuts
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Dough
1 pound filo dough
1 1/2 cup clarified butter and
1/4 cup crisco melted together

Syrup
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Mix filling and set aside. Unwrap filo and place flat on table. Cut dough in half to fit in 9x13 pan. Cover dough with plastic wrap and damp cloth to keep from drying out.
Using one third of the dough, one sheet at a time place in buttered baking dish and brush with butter mixture.
Spread 1 cup of the nut mixture. Repeat above with dough and nut mixture. Layer and butter additional sheets of dough, butter top well.
Chill in fridge till butter hardens. Then cut 2 inch diamonds through all the layers.
Bake at 350º for 15 minutes. Headed any remaining butter and pour over paklava continue baking 20-30 minutes.
Let cool but do not cover tightly.
Before serving bring syrup ingredients to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour hot syrup over cold paklava. Let rest until cool. Makes 24 servings.
