Directions:
Cream butter. Add sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour and baking powder. Press with palm of hand on porcelain unflowered table to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutter. Lift off table with knife. Beat slightly egg whites, brush cookies, and bake in 375º oven until golden brown. The recipe calls for 1-3/4 lbs. flour (7 cups), but sometimes you only use 5-1/2 to 6 cups. The dough should be soft, but not sticky. In other words, when you press it on the table it should come off easily and not stick to the table.
