1 cup margarine
2 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 squares bitter chocolate, melted (pre-melted is great!)
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
2 t. vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
2 t. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:

Cream margarine, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and chocolate. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry. Fold in nuts. Bake at 350º in two loaf pans, 3 round layer pans, or 1 10x14 rectangular pan.

This was my dad's favorite cake. It can be frosted with chocolate frosting but is just as good without.
