3½ C. Flour
2 tsp. soda
1½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. ground clove
1 C. oil
4 large eggs
⅔ C. water
2 C. canned pumpkin
3 C. sugar
Pecans - optional

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients together; mix well.
2. Mix all wet ingredients until blended and gradually add to the dry mixture, scraping down sides of bowl frequently.
(Add optional pecans, if desired).
3. Divide batter among 3 floured and greased loaf pans.
4. Bake at 350º F. for about 1 hour or until center is done when pierced with tester.
5. Cool slightly before turning on wire racks.
6. Store by wrapping in foil or plastic and store in refrigerator.
7. Slice thin and spread with butter.

I've been making this bread every Fall for decades. This is surely a family favorite! It is absolutely delicious to eat while still warm and spread with a thin (or thick) layer of butter. I'm sure my kids have this one stored in their "memory banks."
