4 cups all-purpose flour, plus
1 Tbsp for dusting
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3 cups dark seedless raisins
1 Tbsp caraway seeds
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1 cup sour cream

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 350º. Grease 9-inch round cast iron skillet or baking pan.

2. Combine 4 cups flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, raisins and caraway seeds in a large bowl. Blend eggs, buttermilk and sour cream in a small bowl. Stir into flour mixture just until flour is moistened.

3. Knead dough in bowl, about 10 strokes; dough will be very sticky. Shape into a ball, place in skillet. Cut a 4-inch "x," 3/4 inch deep across top of dough. Sprinkle with remaining flour.

4. Bake in 350º oven 65 to 75 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center tests clean. Cool in skillet 10 minutes. Turn bread out onto wire rack to cool completely.

This is the closest I have found to Grandma Maggie's scone. But I was only 9 years old when Grandma died, so what do I know. She didn't use sour cream but it does give it added moistness.
