4-5 lb flat cut corned beef brisket
1 tbsp beef base
1 tbsp olive oil
1 chopped onion
6 cloves minced garlic
1/4 cup water

carrots, potatoes, cabbage

Directions:
Directions:
Discard any flavoring packet that came with the corned beef. Brush brisket with beef base on both sides. Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat and brown brisket on both sides in the hot oil for 5-8 minutes per side. Place brisket on a rack set in a roasting pan. Cover brisket with onion and garlic pieces and add water to roasting pan. Cover tightly with foil. Bake in preheated oven at 275º for at least 6 hours until meat is tender. Add carrots, potatoes, and cabbage and bake for an additional hour or until the veggies are soft and tender.
