Directions:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking powder.
In large bowl using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, add the eggs one at a time, beating well, scrape bowl with a spatula and beat for a few seconds. Beat in vanilla on a low speed and mix in 1/2 of dry ingredients. Stir in the rest of the dry ingredients.

Turn the dough out onto the counter and cut in 1/2. Pat into 2 discs wrap and cool in refrigerator for 4 hours. Roll out dough onto wax paper or counter top until about 1/4 inch thick. Use your favorite cookie cutters to create your shapes. Dough needs to be cool or its begins to stick.

Baking works best when all shapes on the cookie sheet are the same for instance all Christmas tree shapes on one sheet.

Personal Notes:
I picked up this recipe in 1995 while attending a Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Since then, both Tara, Drew and I have a tradition of making these and frosting them in creative ways several days before Christmas. They freeze very well. See the "icing" recipe and have fun decorating!!
