1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 Tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. soda
Pinch of salt
2 cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugars. Add egg, applesauce and water. Mix dry ingredients and blend into the sugar and egg mixture. Add raisins and nuts. Bake at 325º to 350º until done. (I bake mine in a tube pan.)
 

Caramel Frosting


Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
1/2 cup butter or oleo
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup milk
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in saucepan; add brown sugar. Boil over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk. Keep stirring until mixture boils. Remove from heat and cool. Add sifted sugar. Beat well after each addition. I add chopped pecans, but this is optional. Frost applesauce cake.
