3 c. milk
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. lard (or butter)
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs, beaten
2 packages of yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup of very warm water
10 c. bread flour (approximately)
1 lb. fruit cake mix or raisins

Directions:
Directions:
1. Dissolve in warm water and let set for about 5 minutes.
2. Scald the milk in sauce pan.
3. Pour into large mixing bowl, stir in shortening, sugar and salt. Cool slightly.
4. Add eggs and yeast mixture, stir.
5. Add enough flour to make a soft sponge. (Start with about 7 cups and add more as needed,
one cup as needed, while kneading.)
6. Cover with a dish towel, and let rise in a warm place until double in size. About an hour.
7. Punch down and place into loaf pans or tea rings.
8. Let them raise another 45 minutes.
9. Bake at 350º until lightly browned.
10. Cool on cooling racks.
