2 c. milk
1 c. butter
½ c. sugar


Bring above ingredients to a boiling point. Stand aside till lukewarm. Add 1 tsp. salt.

Mix 1/2 c. water, 2 pkgs. yeast, 1 tbsp. sugar.

Put 51/2 c. flour in a mixing bowl. Make a well in center. Add 1 beaten egg, yeast mixture, and milk mixture. Beat like a cake to mix. Let rise until double in bulk( will be really gooey) Punch down. Dump on well floured board. Roll with rolling pin.

Spread with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins. Roll like a jelly roll. Cut in 1'' slices and place on greased baking sheet. Rise until double. Bake at 375ºF for 15-20 minutes. Cool and ice with butter icing. Sprinkle walnuts if desired.
