Maple Vanilla Cream of Wheat Recipe

4 c. (1 quart) whole milk
2 c. (1 pint) half and half
2 c. water
3 T. light brown sugar
2 T. pure maple syrup
2 tsp. kosher salt
1 ½ c. cream of wheat cereal (not instant)
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Butter, maple syrup, and milk for serving

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the milk, half and half, water, brown sugar, maple syrup, and salt in a very large saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and very slowly sprinkle on the cream of wheat, whisking constantly, until it's all incorporated. Simmer for 3 minutes, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until it's thickened. Stir in the vanilla and serve hot in bowls with a pat of butter, a drizzle of maple syrup, and cold milk.

Make it ahead: Combine the ingredients from the milk to the salt in a pot and refrigerate. When ready to serve, bring to a boil, whisk in the cereal, and finish the recipe.
