Pastry dough for 9 inch 2-crust pie

6 baking apples peeled and cored

3 tbsp chopped nuts
2 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/3 cup water

Optional 3 tbsp raisins

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Roll out pastry dough on floured surface with a floured rolling pin

Cut pastry into 6 squares

Put apple on each square

Fill apple with chopped nuts (raisins if desired)

Pull sides of dough up over all sides of the apple and pinch together firmly at top of apple
Place dumplings in ungreased baking dish 13 x 9 x 2 inches

Heat brown sugar and water to boiling stage. Remove from heat and carefully pour around dumplings
Bake, spooning or basting syrup over dumplings 2 or 3 times
Bake for 40 minutes
