Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Dough:
1/2 C dry milk
2 1/2 C hot water
2 T. yeast
3 T. shortening
1 T. salt
~6 1/2 - 7 C flour

Apple Mix:
2 C peeled and chopped apples
2 eggs
1/2 C chopped nuts (optional)
1/3 C brown sugar
1 T. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Put the hot water, dry milk and yeast in a mixing bowl to proof. Add shortening and salt. Mix in flour until a soft dough forms. Knead gently for a few minutes and place the dough in a greased bowl to rise for about 1 hour. While the dough rises, mix the chopped apples, eggs, nuts, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and mix well by hand. Remove the dough and roll into a rough square (the shape and size doesn't matter much). Pour the apple mixture over the dough, fold the dough over the mixture and use a pastry blade to chop/mix the dough and apple mixture. You should have a chopped mess of dough and apples! Scoop the dough into two greased (and parchment helps) loaf pans or one bundt pan. Let the loaves rise for about 40 minutes. Bake at 375º for about 45 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.

Personal Notes:
This is a fun way to use extra apples and it makes great toast! The apples tend to stick to the pan, so parchment works well in loaf pans or a greased and floured bundt.
