2 c Flour
¼ c sugar
4 tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp salt
¼ c margarine or butter, Cold
½ c Currants

1 egg
⅔ c milk

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Stir in currants. Make a well in center.

In small bowl, beat egg until frothy. Stir in milk. Pour into well. Stir with fork to form a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured surface. Knead 8 to 10 times. Pat into a 6'' circle. Transfer to greased baking sheet.

If desired you may brush tops with milk then sprinkle with sugar. Score each top into 6 pie shaped markings. Bake in 425ºF oven for 15 until risen and browned slightly.
