¾ cup shortening

2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp ginger
½ tsp nutmeg
1 cup sugar

¼ cup molasses (dark)
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening then cool in fridge for 20 minutes.

Mix all dry ingredients, then add egg, molasses and cooled shortening.

Form balls (large gumball size), roll in sugar.

Bake 7-9 minutes (until cookies crack) at 375º

Leave on cookie sheet for 2-3 minutes before removing.
