2 C. brown sugar
1 C. Crisco
3 eggs
3 3/4 C. flour
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. dates
1/2 C. sugar
1/2 C. water
1/2 C. chopped nuts.
Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, shortening, eggs, flour and spices well.
Chill for one hour.
Mix filling ingredients in a medium saucepan: dates, sugar, water and nuts.
Cook until hot and well combined.
Roll out chilled dough.
Spread filling on top.
Roll up like jelly roll.
Chill again.
Cut into slices, and bake 350º for 10-15 minutes
