3 C. Flour
2 C. Sugar
½ C. cocoa
2 t. soda
1 t. salt
2 t. vinegar
2 t. vanilla
⅔ C. oil
2 C. cold water

This receipe is scaled for a 9 X13 greased and floured cake pan.

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift all dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
2. Make 3 "holes" in the dry ingredients.
3. Add vinegar in first hole; vanilla into second hole; and oil into third hole.
4. Pour the cold water over all ingredients and mix well with an electric mixer, scraping the sides of the bowl frequently.
5. Place batter into a greased & floured 9 X 13 cake pan and place in a preheated 350º oven.
6. Bake 45 to 60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean and the sides of the batter are starting to pull away from the pan.

This is a very heavy cake when done, thus, also lovingly referred to as "lead cake" by Larry. It is tasty especially when frosted with a yummy butter-cream frosting. This receipe has been an old family favorite for many years. Grandpa Bowald loved this one, too!

Note: This is a good receipe to make if someone is allergic to eggs!
