2 TBSP. SUGAR
½ TSP. SALT
1¾ CUPS MILK
3 EGG YOLKS, SLIGHTLY BEATEN
1 TSP. RUM FLAVORING
3 EGG WHITES
½ CUP SUGAR
½ CUP CANDIED CHERRIES, THINLY SLICED
½ CUP HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM

THOROUGHLY MIX GELATIN, 2 TBSP. SUGAR AND SALT. ADD MILK AND EGG YOLKS. COOK AND STIR OVER LOW HEAT TILL GELATIN DISOLVES AND MIXTURE THICKENS SLIGHTLY. ADD FLAVING. CHILL, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY, UNTIL PARTIALLY SET. BEAT EGG WHITES UNTIL SOFT PEAKS FORM. GRADUALLY ADD 1/4 CUP SUGAR, BEATING TO STIFF PEAKS. FOLD IN GELATIN MIXTURE AND CHERRIES. CHILL UNTIL MIXTURE MOUNDS SLIGHTLY WHEN SPOONED. POUR INTO PIE SHEL CHILL UNTIL FIRM. SPREAD WITH SHIPPED CREAM AND DECORATE WITH CHERRIES.
