1/2 lb. bacon
1 med. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
28 oz. canned tomatoes
1 cup water
3/4 cup rice
1 T. brown sugar
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. salt
1 t. chili powder
1/8 t. pepper
1 lb. ground beef

Directions:

Cook bacon until crisp. Drain and crumble. Reserve 2 T. bacon drippings Brown ground beef. Set aside. Saute onion and green pepper in bacon drippings until tender. Stir in tomatoes, ground beef, water, rice, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, chili powder, pepper and salt. Cover and simmer 30 minutes until rice is done. Stir in crumbled bacon. Srinkle with shredded cheddar cheese if desired.

This recipe is good to stuff peppers or just by itself.

I usually make a double batch of this, especially if I make stuffed peppers. I have been making this recipe since my kids were little. Everyone loves it!
