1 CUP FLOUR
CUP SUGAR
CUP CHOPPED NUTS, IF DESIRED
2 TBSP. UNSWEETENED COCOA
2 TSP. BAKING POWDER
TSP. SALT
1 TSP. VANILLA
2 TBSP. OIL
CUP MILK
CUP FIRMLY PACKED BROWN SUGAR
CUP UNSWEETENED COCOA
1 CUPS HOT WATER

PREHEAT OVEN. IN MIXING BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR WITH SUGAR, NUTS, 2 TBSP. COCOA, BAKING POWDER AND SALT. ADD VANILLA, OIL AND MILK; MIX WITH WHISK UNTIL WELL BLENDED. SPREAD IN UNGREASED 8X8 SQUARE PAN. COMBINE BROWN SUGAR, CUP COCOA AND HOT WATER. POUR OVER BATTER. BAKE FOR 45 MINUTES OR UNTIL CAKE IS SET. SERVE WARM OR COOL WITH ICE CREAM OR MILK.
