Ingredients:  
1 cup dates cut up
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp baking soda
Put dates in boiling water and let cool (¼ cup cranberries or walnuts cherries can also be added)
2 Tbsp butter
1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
¼ cup molasses

Date filling
1 cup dates
⅔ cup water
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add dates, egg and molasses together then add flour mixture.
put in loaf pan 350ºF for 50-60 minutes.

DATE FILLING:
Add water and sugar to dates.
Cook until thick.
Stir and add in lemon juice.
